Protecting Your Interests In And Out Of Court

We represent parents and children in a broad range of issues related to special education, including:

  • IEP meetings. We meet with school officials to help you set up an Individualized Education Program (IEP) tailored to the needs of your child. If conflicts arise during the course of preparing an IEP, we will handle all mediation proceedings. If mediation is unsuccessful, we will seek to protect your child’s rights through a due process hearing or a 504 hearing.
  • Due process hearings. If you are not able to come to an agreement regarding an IEP or other placement issues with your school department, we will represent you in a due process hearing to enforce your rights.
  • 504 hearings. We will also represent you in section 504 hearings under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. These hearings protect the rights of individuals with disabilities and are often used when a child does not qualify for an IEP but needs some accommodation.

We also handle issues involving busing for students in special education programs, including the distance traveled, cost and size of buses involved. In addition, we will take your case to court if the hearing decision is unfavorable or if the school committee appeals a decision that was made in your favor.
